Return from the West
I made it back, safe and sound, from Hollywood and the Into the West Oscar party. I had a great time and it was the best Leap Day ever (well, for a Lord of the Rings fan anyway)! If you'd like to see my pictures of the event, they can be found on page 1 and page 2.

Seeing as how our CD release date was February 29, 2004... I will soon be adding some discography info and a link to purchase your very own Leap Day EP. Soon. I promise!

As a reminder, if you want to win your very own extra-special first pressing Leap Day EP just sign up for the mailing list. You have four days left to join before we pick a winner!

Will the Rains Never Cease?
It's raining. Still. So to celebrate, here's some news!

I heard a rumour that Leap Day might possibly play a show with Water School late in the summer. Yep, that's right... Water School. Check them out, they're everything I wish I could be. I could fly higher than an eagle, but ... uh... hehe.

I'm still trying to decide if I should go to SXSW this year. It's so expensive, but there are lots of bands playing that I'd like to see. I have until February 20 to make up my mind. wassat

Straight from Headquarters
Well, after a torturous 3 days of emergency server maintenance, leapday.net is finally back online! So, to celebrate, I'm posting news.

David Eaton has promised me that our mixes will be done by next Tuesday. The grande debut of the EP will be February 29, 2004 during the Into the West Oscar Party at the Hollywood Athletic Club in Hollywood, California. Ten lucky party-goers will be receiving free copies of our EP, although I might be tempted to pass out more if anybody asks. smile

Mission Accomplished
For your listening enjoyment, I've added a couple of rough mixes of songs from our forthcoming EP to the MUSIC page. You will need the RealOne Player to listen.

There is also a new MP3 of an early recording available to download! Very lo-fi, if you're into that sort of thing. tongue

My Personal Goal For the Week
My goal for this week is to have some new audio up on the "Music" page. What songs to include is yet to be determined. Just know that there will be some! And I might even try sending out a newsletter for the first time ever! Will the wonders never cease?!

And a very heartfelt thanks to everybody who came out to Fuel tonight, and especially those of you who talked to us after the show. You rock! The Oots were great and we had a wonderful time. Only two weeks till the next show... when we return to the land of super happy fun, Super Happy Fun Land.

Hey, Look! It's a Brand New Website!
Yes, I *finally* got around to redesigning the website. Just consider it a work-in-progress, there are some Shoppe graphics that need updating, and there are also empty pages that will soon be full of new and fun stuff! Until then, check out our new band bio on the About Us page. And I've added a link to all of our old archived news, so if you want to read all of the old news, you can. The mailing list sign-up form and "Ask Landfall" can both be found on the Etc page.

If you click on a link and still see the old site, you just need to tell your browser to refresh the page.

Hope you like the new look!

"Let You Down" on the Buzz
We just found out today that 94.5 The Buzz has a new phone number, so if you happen to have been calling the old number we've been giving out, and it hasn't been working... OOPS!

Here's the lowdown:

1. Call 713-212-5945

2. Make a request for "Let You Down" by Leap Day (even though we are now Landfall, the song is programmed in the system as Leap Day)

That's all there is to it!

Thank you thank you thank you!

The Day After... (Daniel's birthday)
Since Curt so graciously posted the previous news item to warn our fans and casual website visitors of this season's impending hurricane danger, I have taken it upon myself to warn of an even greater impending doom -- the apocalyptic tsunami of May 25, 2006! That's right, the day after Daniel's birthday (and 3 days before mine), the Atlantic ocean is predicted to be hit by a huge fragment of a comet, which will produce a "mega tsunami" of approximately 200 meters in height.

I don't want to cause any mass panic, but you might want to wear your lifejacket that day. As for myself... well, I'll be vacationing on the Virginia coast... I think I'll take my chances.

News.
Given that today is the start of the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season and the North Atlantic season starts in two weeks, I thought I'd share some LANDFALL-related news of the hurricane variety. According to the fine folks at AccuWeather, the US is likely to be hit by five hurricanes this season, three of them being Category three or greater, and, "Early in the season the Texas Gulf Coast faces the highest likelihood of a hurricane strike." So, get ready folks. If we're not rocking you like a hurricane this summer, something will be.

Happy Texas Independence Day!

"Texas, our Texas! All hail the mighty State!
Texas, our Texas! So wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, Withstanding ev'ry test;
O Empire wide and glorious, You stand supremely blest.

God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, Thro'out the ages long.

Texas, O Texas! Your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far.
Emblem of freedom! It sets our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of San Jacinto and glorious Alamo.

God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, Thro'out the ages long.

Texas, dear Texas! From tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes! We come your children true,
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you.

God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, Thro'out the ages long."

And, then there were three...then, technically, five...now, four...
As of August 1, 2006, Clint is no longer a member of Landfall. His reasons for leaving are varied and numerous: increased family commitments, a disabling pinkie injury, and the focusing of his creative energy on playing bass for fellow local band, Civa. We wish him, his family, and Civa all the best. Clint will always have a special place in Landfall's heart...

That makes two...news items.
Uno:
Do you play something? If so, Landfall needs you! Can you sing, too? Even better! Do you like power pop music such as: early-Weezer, Teenage Fanclub, The Rentals, The Pixies and so on...? Then, what are you waiting for? Email us today at iplaysomething@landfallmusic.com.

Dos:
Landfall practiced again on Sunday. We rocked Pasadena!!! We ended up recording a new song at practice that is SOOOOOOOOO amazing, we just have to share it with the world! Download "Get Stoned with Landfall." You'll be glad you did! wink

Even more than the Dokken album of the same name!!! We practiced (sans Clint) today at school! Rock and/or roll! Like the bird, not the city, we have risen like the phoenix to begin again:

And, for your amusement, some pictures and a clip from today's practice...things were a little rough here and there but, aside from this song, we pretty much got back into the groove...somewhat.
